Step 1 - Diagnosis

Step 1: STAMP uses the diagnosis category table to determine the nutritional implications of the child’s diagnosis. A score can then be assigned.

Based on the previous case study, using the diagnosis category table, determine whether the child's medical condition has any nutritional implications and assign a score.

step1

The child has been admitted for an appendectomy, which is minor surgery, so there may be possible nutritional implications and therefore a score of 2 is assigned for this step.
